Hanover Jr/Sr High Principal
Mark Koopman is entering his 25th year in education in 2021. Mr. Koopman earned his Bachelor of Science degree in History (1988) and Masters of Arts in School Administration (2001) from the University of South Dakota. He spent his first 6 years teaching middle school and high school Social Studies in rural South Dakota where he coached track and field and was an assistant football coach for a state championship team in 2000. He and his wife moved to Colorado in 2001 where he taught middle school geography before becoming a Dean of Students and eventually the Activities Director at Rampart High School. He has also been an assistant principal / activities director at Greeley Central High School and Ralston Valley High School. His time was spent serving the state of Colorado activities directors as a member of the Colorado Athletic Directors Association while sitting on the Tennis Committee and Football and Basketball Seeding Committees. Mr. Koopman became an assistant principal at Pueblo West High School where he focused on student relationships, instructional leadership, graduation advising, and student discipline.
Hanover JSHS will be Mr. Koopman’s first principalship after 18 years in school administration. He is currently completing classes towards his Education Specialist degree from Fort Hays State University in the area of Innovative Leadership. When not focusing on school, he enjoys taking walks with his wife, Pamela, attending his daughter Jacqueline’s school events, and watching his son Evan’s baseball games and tennis matches.
